Visit Auchtermuchty and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Auchtermuchty, Fife. This village, on account of the Lowland Scottish spelling and pronunciation of its name, has caused our southern visitors some difficulty. It is a pleasing and attractive little place. A picturesque and, for Scotland, an unusual feature of Auchtermuchty is the thatched roofs on some of its houses; these are made from reeds drawn out of the River Tay. The visitor is unlikely to find such upon his wanderings in Scotland except at Auchtermuchty, and perhaps in the restored part of the village of Swanston on the North slopes of the Pentlands, and on the boundaries of Edinburgh.
