Buckfastleigh, Devon. Some ¾ mile South of Buckfast Abbey, Buckfastleigh Station is the northern terminal of the Dart Valley Railway. The line from here to Totnes was closed by British Rail in 1962 and bought by steam-engine enthusiasts in 1967. The trip to Totnes takes 30 minutes; the return journey 63 minutes. You can also stop off halfway at Staverton Bridge. There is no better way of seeing an exceptional bit of country.
