From Cottesmore take the road due East crossing the Al past Stretton to Clipsham, a journey of about 4 miles to see this pretty show village on the borders of one of our loveliest yet most unsung counties. There are many fine 16th- to l9th-century buildings of the famous honey-coloured Clipsham limestone, particularly Clipsham Hall, which is 18th-century and has a splendid yew hedge and a bird and fish topiary avenue.
