Visit Eccleshall and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Eccleshall, Staffordshire. This typical small market town 6 miles South West of Stone, has long associations with the bishops of Lichfield: six of them are buried in the large, 12th-century parish church and its churchyard. For 700 years the bishops of Lichfield lived at Eccleshall Castle, of which one of the towers, the moat and the bridge over it are preserved. The square, pinnacled tower of the church, which is almost 100 ft high, contains some carved Anglo-Saxon stones, a rare possession.
