Visit Fakenham and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Fakenham, Norfolk. A market town with a partly 15th century church and some Georgian buildings. Three miles to the north, the road to Great Walsingham tops the brow of a steep hill, suddenly revealing East Barsham Manor, a sumptuous Tudor red-brick mansion. Raynham Hall, 3 miles south-west of Fakenham, was the home of the early 18th century agriculturalist and politician the 2nd Viscount Townshend. He was known as 'Turnip Townshend' because he encouraged the growing of turnips and, more important, evolved the system of crop rotation. The hall is still the home of the Townshend family.
