Visit and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Guilsfield, Powys. Perhaps more properly known as Llanaelhaearn, after the saint to whom the church was dedicated, this place is well worth making a detour of barely 2 miles from Welshpool to visit. The roof of the church is panelled, and beamed with flowered bosses at the intersections of its ribs. The tower is of the Early English style, the upper part Decorated. The clock-face is inscribed with the warning note familiar in many languages and in many generations: “Be diligent. Night cometh”.
