Visit Haywards Heath and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Haywards Heath, West Sussex. A large market town, many of whose residents travel to work in London. It is still an important agricultural centre and presents both a town and a rural aspect. On Muster Green was fought the Civil War battle of Hayward's Heath when a Royalist force was routed with the loss of more than 200 men. A rough granite memorial commemorates the local men who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.
Sheffield Park Gardens, a few miles east of Haywards Heath and just east of the A275, are open at advertised times. Rhododendrons in early summer and maples and a variety of shrubs in autumn make a colourful display. There are five lakes at different levels. Sheffield Park Station is on the popular privately-run Bluebell Railway.
