Visit Isle of Whithorn and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Whithorn, Isle of, Dumfries and Galloway. Now a coastal village in the extreme South East of the county, 3 miles South East of Whithorn, this little community was built on what was once an island. There is a l2th century chapel dedicated to St Ninian, a coastguard station, and a harbour.
There is a Dark Age promontory fort near the chapel, and a 7th century enclosure bank outside the l2th century inner bank surrounding the chapel. A pleasant tower-house stands above the harbour.
