Visit Kington St Michael and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Kington St Michael, Wiltshire, is 6 miles north west of Chippenham and has attractive 17th-century, gabled stone almshouses. In the church is a window in memory of John Aubrey, writer, gossip and antiquarian, born here in 1626. An authority on Wiltshire, he persuaded Charles II to visit Avebury and at Stonehenge the Aubrey Holes were named after him. At Priory Farm, close by, some remnants of a 12th-century Benedictine nunnery that once stood here have been built into the walls.
