Visit Leven and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Leven, Fife. This resort and port on Largo Bay gradually grew out-wards from a small weaving village. Since the 19th century, the chief industries have been coal-mining and engineering, but despite industrialization the town has kept a pleasing appearance and attracts visitors. Many fine golfers have come from Leven, which possesses good links.
At the North end of the town is the Dune estate, the property in the 17th century of Sir Alexander Gibson of Dune, Lord President of the Court of Session. The story of his kidnapping is told in Sir Walter Scott's Christie's Well.
