Visit Tealby and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Tealby, Lincolnshire. A beautiful village on the slopes of the Wolds, with the River Rase running down from Bully Hill, Across the valley once stood Bayons Manor, the house of the grandfather of Tennyson, which once belonged to William the Conqueror's half-brother, Bishop Odo of Bayeux; Bayons is an anglicized version of the title. A walk in the steps of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, is accomplished by starting in Tealby itself and setting off in a South East direction downhill past the church to meet the bridge over the River Rase at the entrance of Bayons Park. Continue through the recently cultivated park until the track sweeps to the left. By bearing right after this, through fields and on to High Street Farm, and again at Hainton, with its 145-acre parkland landscaped by Capability Brown, the walk leads back through delightful scenery to cross the River Rase again and ends at Tealby. Tealby Church is an imposing building dating back in part to Norman times.
