Visit Telford and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Telford, Shropshire. The name for this new town was chosen to commemorate a man whose bridges, viaducts, canals and churches can still be seen in all parts of Shropshire: Thomas Telford, 1757—1834, the Scottish-born stone-mason, who became one of the world's most famous engineers. It is fitting that two of his major works, the Holyhead Road and the unusual octagonal church in Madeley, should be within the area of the new city which bears his name.
