Visit Wedmore and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Wedmore, Somerset, 4½ miles North Northwest, a stone village raised on an “isle” in the great flatness, is the place associated with King Alfred's peace treaty with the Danes. It has a big dominant cruciform church of great local repute. It is mainly 15th century with a c. 1200 south door under a three-story porch, particularly impressive west front, good chapel ceilings, fine Jacobean pulpit and, above it, several murals of St Christopher carrying Christ painted on top of each other, the earliest c. 1520.
