Visit Billingshurst and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Billingshurst, Sussex. This pleasantly situated village is chiefly notable for groups of old cottages in its two main streets. The parish church is Norman in origin but the oldest parts still existing are the tower and Lady Chapel, both dating from the 13th century. The 15th-century nave roof has more than 100 carved bosses.
Five miles south east of the village is Shipley where stands the only remaining working smock mill in West Sussex. Built in 1879, it was the property of novelist Hilaire Belloc and was restored in 1957 as a memorial to him.
