Visit Golspie and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Golspie, Highland, a busy distributive centre for the farmlands and crofting hinterland, has a wide shopping range, a sandy beach, a good golf course, salmon and trout fishing, and many well-wooded walks on Ben Bhraggia, which is topped with the huge statue by Chantrey of the first Duke of Sutherland. On the old bridge is a Gaelic stone marking the rallying point of the Clan Sutherland, whose slogan is “Ceann na Drochaide Bige” (“Top of the little bridge”). St Andrew's Church, early l8th century but on the site of an ancient chapel, has fine wood-carving.
