Visit Luss and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Luss, Argyll and Bute. The picturesque village of Luss consists of a single street in a very fine setting on Loch Lomond with a view of the wooded islands on the loch and of Ben Lomond on the opposite side. Glen Luss, behind, leads over the pass to Loch Long — a rough hill walk.
The church was built in 1875 by Sir James Colquhoun of Luss in memory of his father, who was drowned in the loch; it contains some relics from the private chapel at Rossdhu, including, in the churchyard, a hog-backed stone sarcophagus thought to be a 10th century effigy of St Kessog, and an old stone font. The chiefs of the Macfarlanes of Arrochar are buried in the churchyard.
Rossdhu, the seat of the Colquhouns since the 14th century, lies South of the village; the mansion was built in the late 18th century to replace an old castle.
The village is a tourist centre, and steamers call here on the loch trips. There is a good caravan site North of the village beside the loch.
