Visit Newnham and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Newnham, Gloucestershire, on the A48 makes an excellent gateway into the forest of Dean. This is a very pleasant little town right on the banks of the Severn. It was from here that Henry II set sail for Ireland to consolidate and control the conquests of his vassal Strongbow, Earl of Pembroke. It has some good 18th- and 19th-century houses. The good view from the churchyard can be best appreciated on a fine day.
