Visit Symonds Yat and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Symond's Yat, Herefordshire. This famous beauty-spot lies 5½ miles South West of Ross-on-Wye on the Gloucestershire border. The Wye in its narrow gorge flows in a 5-mile loop around Huntsham Hill to make a near-island only a few hundred yards across at the neck. “Yat” is an old form of the word gate and also meant “gap” or “pass”.
Relics of cave-dwellers of 20,000 years ago were found in King Arthur's Cave in the Doward Hills some 3 miles downstream.
