Visit Peel and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Peel, Isle of Man. An old-world fishing port noted for its Manx kippers, which are smoked on fires of oak wood chips. This natural harbour was once invaded by Vikings, and in commemoration a Viking Festival is held each July when mock battles between Norsemen and Celts are re-enacted. Along the Douglas Road, 2½ miles from Peel, stands tiny Tynwald Hill, shaped like a wedding cake. All new laws must be proclaimed from this hill in the English and Manx languages.
