Visit Strachur and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Strachur, Argyll and Bute, is a small resort on the Cowal peninsula possessing a pier and facilities for holiday-makers. About 1 mile to the North West, the road from Strachur leads inland to Loch Eck, a long narrow loch surrounded by hills; the highest being Beinn Bheula (2,557 ft) to the North East, and Beinn Mhor (2,433 ft), which overlooks the West shore of the loch.
Strachur was the ancient seat of the family of MacArthur Campbell, whose estates included Ardgarten, Glenfalloch, and Glendochart. General John Campbell in 1783 built a mansion-house in Strachur Park to replace his former home at Succoth. In 1897—8 the estates were sold.
