Visit Stevenston and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Stevenston, North Ayrshire, is a town just inland of Ardrossan at the base of the Ardeer Peninsula, from which it probably derives its name (“land of the winding stream”; that is, of the sluggish Garnock). The area was evidently of importance in prehistoric days, to judge from the many weapons, implements, and other remains which have been turned up from time to time.
A settlement seems to have existed here from at least the middle 13th century.
